Say it Nicely
When you find yourself in the company of gambling players, especially the expert ones, you will hear a lot of terms that may seem foreign to you. Don't worry, they are not speaking a language that is as hard as German or French, they are just using the gambling lingo. So if you want to be a gambling lingo proficient, here are some terms you can start with:
Double Down - in some gambling games, like poker, gambling players can still double their bets when only another card is left to be drawn. Of course, the risk is high, especially if that gambling player needs that last card to form a decent hand. But in gambling, everything's a risk anyway.
Draw a Card - in gambling games such as Blackjack, gambling players are given two hole cards initially. After that, they can choose to hit, which is another term for drawing a card. When the gambling player chooses to hit, the dealer gives him another card. Usually, the gambling player does because the value of his hole cards is far away from being twenty one. Do not do this if there is a great chance that you will exceed twenty one.
Favorable Deck - blackjack players and Texas Hold'em players know the cards being drawn except for the other players' hole cards. But generally, they have an idea what is left in the deck. If those cards left are useful to him, then it is a favorable deck. A gambling player therefore must be aware which cards have already been drawn to have an idea what is coming next.
First Baseman - this is the gambling player who is seated directly at the left side of the gambling game's dealer, and he is the first to make a move. He or she is called as such because in baseball, the first baseman is the first spot after the home, and of course we know that the dealer represents the house.
Flat Bet - this is the act of betting the same price over and over again. In some way, the gambling player who does this is unpredictable even if he does the same thing. This is because you will never know for sure when this gambling player is just bluffing.
Hole Card - these are the first cards dealt faced down to gambling players. The highest hole cards in Texas Hold'em are the pocket aces while in blackjack is a hand with 10 and an ace.
